Legislation concerning discrimination. Gordon Brown announced that the Single Equality Bill will be included in the Queen’s speech in November. Long awaited, this bill aims at clarifying the legislation concerning discrimination. The main elements are: make public bodies more transparent, reduce the gender pay gap, increase the number of minority ethnic women councilors, improve equality in the private sector by working collaboratively with businesses, trade unions and the Equality and Human Rights Commission, and better enforcement of the law.
