Great Britain: growing use of Section 188 in the public and voluntary sectors to legally dismiss staff in order to rehire them on poorer pay and conditions

Workers at a Scottish charity, Quarriers, are the latest example of a group of workers to experience lawfully imposed wages cuts. Their union, Unison, reported that Quarriers, which has a workforce of 2,000 and runs more than 100 projects across Scotland helping adults with disabilities and supporting young people from difficult backgrounds, intends to press ahead with changes to terms and conditions. These are believed to involve wage cuts of between 3% and 23%.
