This study, paid by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Investors in People (IIP), is part of a three-year project. It identifies the management behaviors necessary to fight against stress at work. (Ref. 080506)
What behavior should managers have to reduce stress in the workplace and implement the HSE standards ? Twelve skills are listed in this study: have integrity, manage conflicts and emotions, and show empathy are some examples. The key message to line managers is that stress management is a part of normal general management activities. The report proposes different tools to assess relevant behaviors: self-assessment, 360 degree feedbacks within the company.
