Faced with mass layoffs in the North Sea oil sector, the British government is trying to encourage workers to seek skilled work in sectors with manpower shortages.
“Whilst the oil and gas sector is currently contracting there are opportunities for oil and gas workers to make good use of their skills and alleviate skills shortages in other sectors.” Thus the conclusion of the UK government in the face of the crisis hitting the North Sea oil sector.
