Facing the explosion in courts of cases concerning equal pay between men and women, the Equal Opportunities Commission - EOC, proposed a moratory on the complaints in order to relieve the courts and favour equality policies in companies. (Ref. 070825)

Complaints for wage discrimination are booming – According to the governmental agency Tribunals Service, complaints for wage discrimination increased by 155% in 2005-2006, reaching the number of 44.013. For Jenny Watson, chairwoman of the Equal Opportunities Commission, this increase is due to the overmuch of lawyers following the motto “no win, no fees”, who are specialized in this area.
