Greece: wage elements neutralized in a great deal of sectoral collective agreements

Born from the austerity program adopted last February (see our dispatch No.  120104), this measure provides that employer may unilaterally bring wages to the level of basic pay provided for in the sectoral agreement until an individual agreement is signed with the employee.  Employees still keep a few allowances: seniority, artistic, graduate level and dangerous work.  The Ministry of Labor decided to specify that, starting on May 15, a new discussion framework was introduced and that there would be no deadline when all private sector employees would see their wages automatically cut.  All in all, a great deal of collective agreements is concerned by the new measure. The Ministry lists four categories of collective agreements.
