o facilitate business by undertaking extensive labour reforms and streamlining the current body of labour legislation.The first stage is to amalgamate 44 existing labour-related Acts into four individual codes including a code on wages, a code on industrial relations, a code on social security and a code on working conditions, with the final two codes still to be drafted. Before the codes are finalized however, and in a bid to accelerate the reform process, many of the existing laws have been overhauled. Several of them have met staunch resistance from the trade unions and social activists, while some have been welcomed.
