Austria/ employment summit focused on apprenticeship and economic migrants. Finding a job for 100,000 people, while reducing the number of unemployed people and rectifying the shortage of qualified staff; these three tasks are key aspects of the Austrian government’s programme. They also form the theme of the “summit for employment”, held on 19 September in Vienna, and organised by the country’s ministries for employment and social affairs, and the economy. Among the measures announced at the summit, which was attended by social partners and industry experts, is an increase to the training budgets of the Public Employment Service (AMS) for its entry to apprenticeship programme and its training for qualified workers programme aimed at unemployed people, with each of the programmes taking on around 10,000 individuals.
