Self-employment is very common in Poland. It can be found via different types of contracts (service provision, contract for a task, assignment contract), which are subject to Civil Law and not to Labor Law. However, there is no legal definition of self-employment. Of course, it is different from an employment relationship which implies a subordination relation (work for an employer, under the command of this employer, during a time and at a place determined by him and in exchange for remuneration).
