The current code, which will become null 30 days after the new law is published in the Official Journal (in theory early May), dates back to 2003. It was a text of socialist inspiration perpetuating the guidelines of the previous Code which dated back to 1972 and was based on French social law. Since 2003, it has been amended 12 times, notably to add Community provisions, but maintained its socialist course.
