On 8 October, the Spanish government passed the royal decree establishing a series of specific measures to guarantee equal treatment and non-discrimination for LGTBI people at work. The text activates regulations to guarantee the on-the-ground application of the "Law for the real and effective equality of trans people and for the guarantee of LGTBI rights", known as the "Trans Law".
The so-called Trans Law, which was definitively approved on 28 February 2023, requires companies with more than 50 employees to negotiate concrete measures to raise staff awareness. This involves reviewing the methods used to select, hire and promote employees, as well as putting in place harassment prevention and intervention protocols. The aim is to establish an environment open to diversity and develop inclusive working practices.
