Twenty years after the law on occupation risk prevention, the CCOO and UGT unions are drawing attention to the rising number of work related accidents and together they have published a list of proposals for the political parties and society in general to review in order to mobilize support for a commitment to public health and especially to health at work.
The rise in work related accidents is linked to hiring conditions and deteriorating working conditions. Unions are fighting so that the “combat against occupational illness and work related accidents is no longer a rhetorical formula but instead becomes a reality.” They have drawn attention to the fact that the recent upturn in Spain’s economic activity has been accompanied by a rise in the number of work related accidents.
