Can scarcity boost visitors for U.S. department stores? This is Macy’s gamble, which bought Story in May 2018 for an undisclosed amount. Story opened in 2011 in New-York (Chelsea area, sales area of 185 sq.m), mixing “the point of view of a magazine, changing like an art gallery and selling products like a store”. The investment from Macy’s is in addition to a further roll-out of ‘corners” in the biggest U.S. department stores.
