In the absence of agreement within the National Council for Employment, Productivity, and the Adjustable Minimum Living Wage – a body comprising representatives of employers, trade unions and the government – the latter has unilaterally decided on the minimum wage increase, against a backdrop of high inflation (166% in November 2024, over one year).
