Subject to the private sector's competition, the Austrian post (Österreichische Post), which employs 24.000 people, announced on Wednesday, December 12, a savings plan as well as 1.700 job cuts by 2011. Almost half the leaves will take place during the first semester of 2008. (Ref. 071019)
The “package and logistics” branch will be the first to undergo the consequences of the plan presented on Wednesday December 12 by the Austrian post’s management with about 500 employees leaving and the shutdown of Graz’s delivery centre, one of the company’s seven large delivery centres.
