The chemical company BASF and the Catalonian Department of Education (Spain) have just reached an agreement by which students from a Catalonian vocational training school can pursue a dual training program involving significant work experience abroad, at BASF’s headquarters (Ludwigshafen, Germany). To our knowledge, this is the first dual training program with a transnational component to be approved in Spain. The first edition of this program is expected to commence in September 2013. Nearly 20 students from the publicly-run vocational training school Comte de Rius (Tarragona, Spain) will take part in the transnational dual training program deployed by the Catalonian Government and BASF. This program, which combines a training period at the education center with labour activity in BASF’s plants, will last 28 months (from September 2013 to December 2015), or, to be more precise, 2,725 hours.
