The 3 bills the government presented to the Parliament on May 8 transpose the vocational training reform to make it more appealing, improving its quality as well as young people’s opportunities in terms of professional decisions or continuing school and internships, through closer links with businesses. This reform notably meets the challenges this form of education has been facing for a few years in Denmark: the number of students constantly growing, high drop-out rate and big age difference between the students, which goes against the “very nature of education for youngsters.”
“Denmark boasts about a long tradition of more than 100 years of good professional schools which, alternating between school training and practice in businesses, in close cooperation with the social partners, have provided quality workers in manufacturing, construction, trade and services,” reminded Education Minister Christine Antorini when she presented in Parliament the three bills that make up the government’s reform of vocational training.
