Since November 2024, the French social protection group Apicil (more than 2,600 employees), in partnership with the association PSSM (mental health first aid) France, has been training volunteer employees to detect signs of psychological distress in their colleagues. The aim of creating this network is to enable a "rapid and caring" response in order to reduce the risks associated with stress, burnout and other forms of psychological distress.
Strengthening the prevention of psychosocial risks and providing better support to employees in difficulty: these were the objectives sought by Apicil when it set up its mental health first aid training programme. This programme, launched just one year ago, aims to “establish a close relationship in order to offer immediate and compassionate support to people facing mental health issues”, explains Agnès Armengaud, the group’s head of quality of life at work. A total of 34 volunteer employees have been trained by the association PSSM France to recognise the signs of psychological distress.
