After several months of delay beyond the European deadline of 7 June 2026, French Labour Minister Jean-Pierre Farandou finally presented the bill transposing the Pay Transparency Directive to the Cabinet on Thursday, 10 September. The legislation requires companies with at least 50 employees to shed light on their pay systems in order to reduce pay gaps for equivalent work, particularly between women and men. The bill must now be examined by Parliament.

The Cabinet today adopted the bill transposing into French law the European Pay Transparency Directive adopted in 2023, with neither “over-transposition nor under-transposition”, according to the Ministry of Labour.
