On 22 January, the industrial and technology group Safran (45,000 employees in France) and trade unions signed a new five-year agreement on training and skills development. The text provides for the rollout of a plan focused on the adoption of generative AI and establishes new bodies responsible for assessing its impact on employment.
The agreement, concluded between Safran and the CFDT, CFE-CGC, and FO unions, aims to support the major transformations that will impact the company and its professions over the 2026-2030 period. To this end, the group is committed to deploying a “global upskilling plan for generative AI”. This initiative is designed to help the workforce “apprehend” the rapid development of the technology and its increasingly significant integration. Consequently, Safran intends to promote GenAI as “a lever for competitiveness, innovation, and operational efficiency”, while raising awareness among all staff regarding its features to “improve their daily professional lives”.
