Great Britain: guide helps businesses prepare for the implementation of employees’ right to request time to train

inesses with over 250 employees will have the right to request free time to attend vocational training. All employees will be concerned in 2011. To prepare businesses to deal with this new right, the government published a guide explaining eligibility criteria, employers’ obligations and grounds for refusal. (Ref. 100044)

Advice on Business Link. The right to request free time to train is contained in the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act of November 2009. From April 6, 2010, employees in businesses with 250 people or more will be concerned, and all employees from April 2011.
