International: 3rd UNI Global Union Congress shows the will to “break through” on transnational bargaining and unionization

Different funding.  With the G20 summit in the background in Korea, the global union’s congress mostly worked on the global financial and economic crisis. UNI, which, alone, covers thirteen private sectors (including retail, the media, telecom, post, graphic arts, temporary agencies, industrial cleaning, private security…) has a significant number of members in finance, and these employees no longer want to sell unfair products. As such, the Congress’ message points to the pressing need for a new, diversified, transparent banking system generating growth. Supporting investments into the real economy, removing stock options as a remuneration element, and introducing a tax on financial transactions are some of the union’s claims.
