Following the announcement by the French car manufacturer PSA Peugeot-Citroen of the closing of its site of Ryton in Great Britain, the European Metalworkers' Federation (EFM) met, last 27 April, in Brussels, the trade unions and employee representatives of PSA in the United Kingdom, France and Spain. For the vice secretary-general of the EMF, Bart Samyn, “the site of Ryton has its place in an automobile group which is financially very profitable and whose production is in full expansion”. As for European trade unions, denounce an industrial strategy which rests primarily “on a repositioning towards the countries has cost low and of the still hypothetical steps emergent”.
