Sweden: employers and union launch a joint prevention campaign against drugs and alcohol in construction

A problem which affects all parties. The issue of abusive alcohol use was revived on March 4, 2009 by Maria Larsson, Minister for Elderly Care and Public Health. A report proposed revising the alcohol act to lower the total use of alcohol within the population. In 2004, ALNA (Alcohol and drug prevention in workplaces) listed that 21% of women drank an excessive amount of alcohol at work as opposed to 17% of men. 9% of all women and 15% of all men presented symptoms of alcoholic dependency.
