On September 19, employers in the manufacturing industry announced the creation of a new employers' organization, "industriarbetsgivarna" (meaning manufacturing employers), presenting itself as an employers' organization for basic Swedish industry (Svensk basindustris arbetsgivarorganisation). It was created just in time to conduct the coming negotiations. It is made up of Organisationerna Gruvornas Arbetsgivareförbund (mining), Skogsindustrierna (forestry), Stål och Metall Arbetsgivareförbundet (metal and steel) and SVEMEK (industrial services) and claims to be an alternative to Teknikföretagen (technological industry) and Almega (services). Grounds for restructuring. Industriarbetsgivarna represents 860 affiliated company and 82,000 employees and is the result of cooperation between 4 sectoral employers’ organizations:
1) Skogsindustrierna (forestry) represents 275 businesses and nearly 32,000 employees.
2) Stål och Metall Arbetsgivareförbundet (metal and steel) represents 170 businesses and 34,000 employees.
