Weaker than ever, the American union movement needs to get young people and minorities to join while defending its position in sectors where it is still present. In a country of over 314 million people living in over 9.5 billion square kilometers, the next Convention of the AFL-CIO, the biggest trade union in the US, on September 8-11 in Los Angeles, is prepared online. Even though “More than 2,800 people attended [39] in-person listening sessions (…) from California to New Hampshire, New Mexico to Missouri, Ohio, North Carolina and more,” there are also “more than 45 more in the works,” the union says.
