French retail chain Auchan signed a global agreement with the international union organization UNI Global on 17 March.
The agreement contains commitments over fundamental rights, health and safety, and in terms of relationships with its suppliers and sub-contractors. The agreement also includes a specific point on ‘dynamic employment policies’, in which the retail chain commits to prioritizing permanent employment contracts, ‘training, internal promotion, multi-tasking, internal mobility, geographical and professional mobility,” to develop employability, pay particular attention to the working conditions of older employees, as well as to focus on colleagues’ health risks.
