Baltic countries: Estonian and Latvian financial unions sign cooperation agreement

Latvijas Finanšu nozares arodbiedrību (Latvian financial union, FNA) and Eesti Finantssektori Töötajate Liit (Estonian financial union, EFL) announced, on March 31, a new cooperation agreement aimed at developing collaboration and information exchange between financial sector workers.  The goal is to come up with a stable and safe working environment and to improve social security for workers who, sometimes, across borders, work for the same financial establishments.  Therefore, the two unions want to create a representation power in their own countries and in the region, in order to defend the economic and social interests of their members.

Recent history. This is the logical development regarding the historical growth of each union, which is relatively recent. The Estonian union was created in September 2013 and is made up of employees working for the following companies: SEB Bank Estonia, SEB Life and Pension Insurance Estonia, SEB Leasing Estonia, Swedbank Estonia, Swedbank Investment Funds Estonia, Nordea Bank Finland Estonian Branch, LHV Bank Estonia, BIGBANK Estonia, as well as a number of small employers.
