Denmark’s tri-partite negotiations have entered phase two. Since 15 April, and following the agreement struck on 17 March on integrating refugees into the labor market, all the parties have been discussing the controversial topics of training and internships, seen as essential if Denmark is to undo its tarnished image as regards apprenticeships.
Objectives. The current discussions aim both to erase the memories of the difficult and ultimately failed negotiations on apprenticeships that took place over previous years and succeed in balancing the training offered to the unemployed and youths with the needs of businesses in a country that is starting to feel the pressure of manpower shortages. Topics discussed included preventing recruitment problems, more value-added internships, and life-long occupational training.
