Thirteen years after its first global agreement (the first being signed in 2005 and subsequently renewed in 2009), France’s energy giant has re-engaged with the global union federations, IndustriALL Global and ISP (public services) to conclude a new CSR framework agreement. The commitments made remain close to those undertaken in 2009 but broader because they will automatically apply to all EDF managed subsidiaries. The previous agreement required subsidies to explicitly subscribe to it. The new agreement is set for signature on 29 May at the ILO’s Geneva’s offices.
The ‘principle of subscription’ contained in the previous global agreement that was renewed in 2009 was a uniquely defining characteristic (available here on the European Commission and ILO database), however despite the HR department’s and unions’ best efforts to promote the agreement, a certain number of companies still remained outside its scope. This new four-year agreement will automatically apply to all EDF Group subsidiaries, both directly and indirectly under its control.
