With 102 votes in favor, 21 against and 22 abstentions, Confindustria’s Giunta approved, on April 19, the program and team set up by Giorgio Squinzi, the organization’s new leader (see our dispatch No. 120188). Bigger than the majority which elected him as President (93 votes for him, 82 for his rival, Alberto Bombassei), this majority is confirming Squinzi’s position in the association. Bombassei abstained but his followers split into opponents and abstentions which some observers say that the break between the organization’s two “trends” has not been bound back together yet.
