Both the public and private sectors in Japan are trying to boost female hires. Toyota Motor Corp and its 9* subsidiaries are leading the way in supporting females’ careers. The group believes that the value young women can add in terms of “their opinions and their female sensitivities as regards product design and development” is both profitable and strategic with “positive manufacturing outcomes and the development of new markets.”
This week Toyota Motor Corp announced it would aim to significantly raise the number of female engineers in the industry. With this in mind Toyota, together with 9 other companies will set up a specific foundation in January 2015 the objective of which will be to encourage and support young women who traditionally shy away from the automobile engineering sector.
