On 3 June, the French banking company signed an international agreement on fundamental rights with the international trade union federation UNI. Société Générale has thus affirmed its commitment to international norms, in particular the respect of trade union freedom. Among the commitments that have been made, the bank will facilitate access of national trade unions, which are members of UNI, to company premises to meet with employees.
“This is an agreement without precedent, as it is the first time that a bank of this size has signed a framework agreement with a global trade union organisation”, Philip Jennings, General Secretary of UNI Global Union, underlined. He added that “we are very happy that Société Générale is the first and we invite other banks, from France and abroad, to follow this example”.
