Spain: FITEQA-CCOO general secretary talks about the company agreement at Adolfo Dominguez cutting pay to save jobs

Joaquim González Muntadas.  I wanted to show the extremely difficult situation businesses, unions and employees are in.  It is true that it isn’t common for unions to point to the value of agreements like this one.  We wouldn’t want them to become examples.  But they do exist.  What happened at Adolfo Dominguez is important.  While the norm, since the labor market has been reformed, was to solve problems quickly, letting people go cheap and fast and then hiring cheaper workers, some do things differently.  Adolfo Dominguez only had to bring the company’s reports forward to show the drop in sales and get the statutory go to throw people out.  On the contrary, the company decided to talk, to find a solution that was in everyone’s interest, to try and retain quality employment as much as possible.
