At the trade’s annual forum, “Elmia Städ,” on September 24-26 in Jönköping, the SRTF (Sveriges rengöringsteknikska förbund, cleaning techniques) and Svenska Golvrådet (maintenance advice) unions announced their merger and the creation of a new sectoral organization, “Städbranschen Sverige” (SBS, Swedish cleaning organization). This organization aims to defend the interests of the 70,000 people who working in cleaning, maintenance and hygiene. It presented ambitious goals in a booming environment lacking regulation. Logical decision. For a while, the SRTF and Svenska Golvrådet unions had been thinking about ways to work together and take advantage of their synergies to be more present in the field. Indeed, they wanted to combine manufacturing experience with practice expertise in the areas of cleaning, maintenance and hygiene.
