Ikea is opening more and more design studios around the world. What are the quantitative targets for 2025?
During the last financial year ending in late August, 2024, Ingka Group (turnover of €41.8 billion) opened 40 design studios (also called plan & order stores) worldwide, bringing the total to 574. This format is very strong in Europe and North America. These are small stores that offer design assistance in our 3 main areas (kitchens, wardrobes and bathrooms). I can’t put a figure on the overall trend, but in France, during the current financial year, we will increase the number of design studios from 5 to 8 and want to maintain this pace of 2 to 3 openings per year. We are aiming for 20 units by 2030. Most of the appointments are for kitchens, a category that is over-represented in the French market. In addition to design, we are increasingly adding a ‘click and collect’ service, which allows urban consumers to manage goods collection themselves.
