The merger of both steel groups should soon lead to the constitution of a single European work's council. This will be difficult, because the current European work's councils are very different. (Ref 06874)
As soon as the merger was accomplished, a working group gathered in Chicago, for a human resources convention of Mittal, and discussed the way to marry both existent European works councils (EWC). « There was a will to speed up the creation of the new EWC », underlines the secretary of the EWC of Arcelor, Jacques Laplanche (CGT – French trade union).
