Starting on January 1, 2008, the 500.000 employee in Austrian retailing will get a 3.1% wage increase. Social partners also signed a special agreement which enables, among other things, to work on Sundays for double pay during the month of June 2008 - the 2008 European football cup. (Ref. 070927)
The expected arm wrestling game between social partners in the trade sector did not take place. It is without much trouble that managers and staff representatives reached two important collective agreements which concern almost 500.000 employees in the trade sector and similar services.
