In Belgium, job-seekers or people on welfare immediately lose their allowance if they choose to become self-employed. Congressman Benoît Drèze (CDH, Christian Democrat) submitted, on November 17th, to the federal Parliament, a bill which aims at extending the payment of the unemployment allowance or the integration income during the first year of self-employed activity.
