Belgium: creation of a pension bonus to encourage workers to remain active longer

From January 1st, 2007, people who retire after 62 years old or 44 years of career will receive a 2 euros bonus per day worked. The objective is to encourage employees to postpone their retirement age. (Ref. 061246)

On the initiative of the minister of Pensions Bruno Tobback, the Council of ministers of December 8th approved a royal order which institutes this pension bonus. This measure is part of the Pact for solidarity between generations (an ambitious social pact defended for more than a year by the government).
