Carrefour: the French company and UNI Global union create Carrefour Colombia union

Global agreement for the creation of Carrefour unions.  On December 1, 112 workers of Carrefour Colombia created their own union organization, called Unión de Trabajadoras y Trabajadores de Carrefour Colombia.  The new union already has 1,300 members out of the 11,000 workers employed by the French supermarket chain in the country (52 stores).  Conditions favoring the creation of the trade union were introduced earlier.  Indeed, for several years, the French group has been a part of a global agreement signed with UNI Global Union.  In this text, Carrefour commits to monitor, along with UNI, the application of different conventions by the International Labor Organization (ILO): Convention 87 on the right to union organization, Convention 98 on collective bargaining, and Convention 135 on the protection of employee representatives on the workplace.
