Germany : the minimum wage will be maintained in the building sector

minimum wage levels in the building sector was accepted on June 21, 2008 for the first time in Germany through a compromise proposed by a mediator, Wolfgang Clement, former SPD minister of Social Affairs and Employment. The signatories have fourteen days to get the agreement ratified by their members. (Ref. 080534)

This compromise, valid for one year, contains the following provisions :

  • as agreed in August last year, an increase in “west” Germany on September 1 of the minimum wage for auxiliary
