Great-Britain : strike action announced in the rail sector

Several thousand signal workers from Network Rail, the owner of the British railways network, have finally voted to go out on strike (cf. our article n°06464), as called for by the main transport union, the TGWU. (Ref. 06725)

The strikes are planned for 21st July, from midday, for 24 hours, and again on 27th July, from midday, for 48 hours. The action is being taken, after several months of wage negotiations, owing to the company’s refusal to reduce the scope of the pay deal from two years to one.
