The TUC condemns the fact that more than a million Britons aged between 50 and 65 are out of work against their wishes because employers will not keep them on. The Congress calls for the government to protect these workers if they want to defuse the pension time bomb. (Ref.06817)
The TUC claims that, in the next 10 years, the number of people aged below 50 will decrease by 2% whilst the number aged 50 to 69 will rise by 17%. Thus, the relationship between those working and not working is accentuated and, by the same token, the burden of those who will pay for the latter.
