International: ICEM international union federation holds last Conference before the creation of the big industry federation

Gathered for three days in the Argentinean capital, the 800 delegates representing about 200 affiliated union organizations elected Senzeni Zokwana (NUM, South Africa) and Manfred Warda as respectively President and General Secretary, and defines the priorities for the future.  The fight for unionization is, as for all global union organizations, their main hobbyhorse.  This priority primarily goes through helping national unions recruit new members and through global campaigns opposing antiunion practices, coming from businesses and governments, like the solidarity actions organized by Vale and Grupo Mexico union organizations this past year.
