Italy: increased metalworkers’ mobilisation for the second national strike for the renewal of their national collective agreement

Over 200.000 participants to the 14 regional demonstrations and a support rate of almost 90% to the 8-hour national strike. These are union results for the Friday November 16 mobilisation for the renewal of metalworkers' national collective agreement which expired last June. Their goal: unfreeze negotiations, which are notably stuck on the reform of professional classification. (Ref. 070946)

Unions are very satisfied with the November 16 national mobilisation, which supposedly exceeded that of October 30 (see our article No. 070906,) stopping production in several of the sector’s plants. Over 200.000 workers (union source) would have taken part in the initiatives.
