Italy: renewal of agency workers’ national collective convention

The employers' association of temporary work (Assolavoro) and the organizations representing precarious workers (Alai-Cisl, Nidil-Cgil, Uil-Cpo), have just concluded an agreement renewing the branch national collective agreement, which concerns 600.000 workers. Some say it is an example of flexicurity, both in terms of employment stability and welfare, because it introduces new rights to compensate the employment flexibility inevitable for temporary workers. Employment stability. The agreement should make up for the gap in the law which excludes temporary workers from the field of application of the rules on the extension of fixed-term contracts and of those on successive employment with the same employer which have recently been amended to allow for stabilization (see our article No. 070873).
