Netherlands: call to strike at Floraholland

The Confederation of Dutch trade unions (FNV Bondgenoten) called for a one-day strike on October 30th, which might paralyze Floraholland, the second auction flower market in the Netherlands. 215 jobs will be shed to support the competitiveness of this market confronted to worldwide competition. Management announced that 215 part-time jobs (15 to 20 hours a month) would be shed. Floraholland wants to increase its productivity by 3% before 2008.
