Netherlands: the negotiations at Unilever are blocked

Negotiations regarding the next collective convention at Unilever have been blocked since November 22. The Dutch multinational company, employing 206,000 people around the world, refuses to guarantee job security to its 4,000 Dutch employees. (Ref. 061181)

The Dutch and allies union federation (FNV Bondgenoten,) for its part, wants this protection for the next three years. This union appears even more determined given the fact that it was caught off-guards by the announcement, on November 21, of the group’s reorganization, which plans to reduce the work force in Vlaardingen from 250 to 110 people in the “research” department.
