Since 10 July, the main trade union federation of the Netherlands has received 350 phone calls on its special “heat wave” hotline. In the Netherlands, temperatures above 25° are considered as a heat wave. For example, a driver of a vehicle for handicapped people worked in 50° heat. “We don’t want to think of the consequences if ever this driver faints” sais Jan Verhagen, FNV expert for health issues.
